Las Colinas, Santa Tecla Centenares murieron acá en el Terremoto del 13 de enero del 2001 Many hundreds died here in the Earthquake that struck on January 13, 2001

Mi historia personal: Estaba en mi apartamento para el terremoto.
Luego de que pasó, fuí en dirección de la casa de mi ex-novia en Las Delicias para ver si estaban bien...
pero a la altura de Shell Utila había una cola de carros - y decían: La calle está cerrada...
bueno, retrocedí y bordée Santa Tecla para llegar a donde vivía mi ex-novia, y en Las Delicias todos estaban bien...
Sólo hasta después nos dimos cuenta de la magnitud del desastre.
La calle que quería tomar y estaba cerrada es la que se ve perpendicular (horizontal en la primera foto) al deslave
Casi todos conocián a alguien que murió en Las Colinas, en mi caso, la mamá de mi compañero Carlos.

My personal history: I was in my apartment at the time of the earthquake.
After it happened, I went to my ex-girlfriend home at Las Delicias to see if they were all right...
but near the Shell Utila gas station there was a traffic jam - and people were saying... the street is closed...
so, I turned back and drove around Santa Tecla to reach mi ex-girlfriend home, and at Las Delicias everybody was OK...
Only afterwards we got to know the magnitude of the disaster. The street that I wanted to take and was closed
is the one that runs perpendicular to the direction of the landslide (horizontally in the first picture)
Almost everybody knew someone who died at Las Colinas, in my case, the mother of my classmate Carlos.

En donde trabajaba, Microsoft, buscamos cómo poder ayudar por los Terremotos,
y una cosa que hicimos, con la ayuda de mi hermano Rolando Mocán
es el primer censo en el centro de refugiados del Cafetalón. Este fué un censo imposiblemente desordenado,
por la cantidad de gente, de varios miles - casi 10,000. Después vinieron del Centro de Registros
y una empresa creó un sistema formal de administración de los refugiados.

También trabajamos en el centro de refugiados de Las Delicias,
que fué un centro modelo, pues estaba mejor organizado, lo que era más fácil, pues tenía menos gente.

Where I worked, Microsoft, we looked for ways to help because of the Earthquake
and one thing that we did, with the help of my brother Rolando Mocán
was the first census at the Cafetalón refugee camp. This was a very disorderly census,
as there were thousands of people - almost 10,000. Later, people of the National Registry Center came,
and a company created a formal refugee administration system.

We also worked at the Las Delicias refugee camp,
which was a model center, as it was better organized, which was easier there as there were less people.
